Christmas 2010: Christmas Tree, Types of Christmas Trees, Trimming and Decoration for Xmas Trees

The Christmas tree is a decorated tree, which became the symbol and synonym of Christmas season. It is one of the important and it has irresolvable relation with christmas celebrations in any country. AS soon as christmas season arrives people start buying Christmas trees and things need to decorate it. We can observe well decorated Xmas trees all around.

Christmas Tree History

There are many fairy tales and stories associated with origin and birth of Christmas tree. Long before the birth of Christianity, plants and trees that remained green all time had a special sense for people in the winter. It is believed that during 7th century a monk went to Germany from Devonshire to preach. The tradition of planting a Christmas Tree started at 15th century in Livonia and 16th century in Northern Germany. The tale tells us that he took the Fir Tree, which was triangular in shape to depict the Holy Trinity of God the Father, on and Holy Spirit. The people there started to respect the Fir tree as God's Tree.

The inception and historic details of decorated Christmas tree can be found in the period of the ancient Romans who habituated to decorate Christmas tree with several pieces of metal for their Saturnalia festival during chilly winter season.

In olden days, local town markets used to become the place for selling of Xmas trees and people used to place them in their houses without any decoration.

Usually we come across two types of Christmas trees, i.e. Natural Xmas Tree and Artificial Xmas tree.

The first artificial christmas trees were created in Germany in the 19th century, over the years, other types of artificial christmas trees have developed and become popular. In the year 1930, the U.S based Addis Brush Company produced the first artificial christmas tree, which is made up of brush bristles. We have another sort of tree, “aluminum Xmas tree”, which is made up of aluminum. Most of artificial Xmas trees are made up of recycled plastic, such as Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC). Most artificial trees are not reclyable or environment friendly.  

Artificial Christmas Trees: These are the trees of low cost when compared with natural ones. specifically these are very useful in small homes. There are different types of Artificial christmas trees, They are:

  • Designer Trees
  • Outdoor Trees

 Tree Trimming Decorations

There are lot of ways to embellish christmas trees with different types of christmas ornaments like toys, candies, trinkets, nosegays, garlands, ribbons, and light strands. Tinsel and various types of garland or ribbon are often used to decorate a christmas tree. Appropriate theme should be selected to make the Xmas tree decoration more meaningful.

Christmas trim for the mantle, centerpieces or tables makes the decoration appropriate for Xmas celebration. Few steps to use tree trim include:

  • Decorate the mantel with tree trim by putting poinsettia flowers, pinecones, and pomegranates inside it.
  • Arrange trim on balcony and banisters with pomegranates as an adornment.
  • Series the trim with cranberry beads.
  • Exactly at the middle of the trim knot cinnamon sticks with ribbons.
  • Place the trim in a good-looking glass bowl, by adding pinecones, small pomegranates, apples, and other stuff as a showpiece table decoration.
